Pinot Grigio Dreaming

Yes, there are geekier and more esoteric Italian wines than Terlano’s Pinot Grigio.

However of all the wines I sell, it is this singular bottle of white wine that reminds me how much love there is in the world for Italian wine.  Americans in particular, are obsessed with Pinot Grigio.  Jeremy Parzen reminds us today in his post for the Houston Press just how this fascination came to be.  Whether its the gorgeous pink of Vie de Romans, or the always-adored crystal clear colors of Santa Margherita,  Americans adore Pinot Grigio.

It’s always a pleasure to see the look of pleasure that crosses a person’s face when they inhale the aroma of drying straw, white flowers, orange zest, bitter almond from a glass of Terlano Pinot Grigio.  This is Alto Adige.  It’s mountains and crisp, electric blue skies.  This wine is the rush of pure sunlight pouring through snow-capped mountains and the crunch of sandy red soil under your boots.

Bravo, America.  Keep loving your Pinot Grigio.

  1. Ah the Alto Adige – an under-explored wine region… I’ve had some wonderful pinot nero experiences but need to explore its whiter offerings too – thanks for the reminder!
