I think I’m turning Japanese…

Recently I had a very unique Las Vegas experience.

No, not that kind.

Thanks to my good friend Mike Tadich, I stumbled into one of the best Japanese meals of my life at Raku in Chinatown.  This place simply blew me away- just check out the condiments one the table…

We ordered a few different dishes to share, and the chef sent out some delicately fried fish to pair with the sake we were drinking, because you just can’t drink Italian wine ALL the time.  Well, now that I think about it, the Quarz Sauvignon from Alto Adige’s Terlano would have been a nice option…

 The tuna tartare was also delicious- laced with finely minced scallions and ginger.

Although every dish was delicious, the highlight of the meal was a beautiful, simple, salmon sashimi.  This was the richest, silkiest peice of fish I have ever tasted- seriously, where do they get this stuff?

Like a lot of mind-blowing culinary experiences (especially those that sneak up on you when you’re not expecting greatness), Raku is located in the most unsuspecting strip mall in China town. Next time you’re in Sin City- get off the strip!  Check this place out, and don’t forget to make a reservation.
